The Rifle Association at the Florida State University is dedicated to safety, education, and competition.  As such, the members of the Rifle Association have formed a competitive rifle team to compete in rifle marksmanship competitions across the state of Florida and throughout the South Eastern United States.  It is the mission of the RAFSU Rifle Team to 1) further the knowledge, desire, and the pursuit of excellence in responsible and competitive marksmanship, 2) provide a safe and professional environment in which students can compete at all levels of rifle marksmanship, and 3) to produce the best rifle marksman that can be developed through education and competition.

The FSU Rifle Team officially began competing in the fall of 2012.  Our first competition only involved two marksman equipped with .308, shooting at the American International Marksmanship Academy in Blakely, GA at the 3X600 NRA High Powered Rifle Competition.  Since that time, the team has expanded to 7 marksman who are dedicated to the development of rifle skill in practical and competitive environments.  The FSU Rifle Team is currently looking to compete at NRA High Powered, F-Class Rifle competitions in Florida and Georgia.  The group plans to extend its knowledge and reach beyond these competitions to include both small and large bore matches as well as a diverse set of competitive scenarios including, but not limited to: Bullseye, Unknown Distance matches (UKD), Palma, Small bore, Across the Course matches, and ultimately, NCAA .22LR Bullseye competitions.  We also are looking to the future development of a three-gun competitive team.

As the RAFSU Rifle Team looks to the future, we are always interested in any support that can be afforded to us.  Currently, we are in need of our most necessary piece of equipment: rifles.  Up until recent, our advisor and some benevolent members have loaned us rifles but as our needs and desires to compete grow, we must obtain our own rifles.  The FSU Rifle Team asks for your support in any way possible so that we may fulfill our mission.  As our mission directly supports that of RAFSU of safety, education, and competition, the FSU Rifle Team seeks to educate its members and others about the modern rifle and improve the general understanding of how the tool should be used in practice and competition   We are thankful for the support we have received thus far and look to the future in hopes that the FSU community and beyond will continue to support us as we grow and develop.
